Writer. Metalhead. Triathlete. Father of two. Painter of nails.
Member of The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.

I grew up outside Seattle, WA. I wrote many stories and poems as a kid, but lost the habit as an adult, finding my way to a career as a Software Engineer. I paused that career for a B.S. in Environmental Science from the University of Washington, then returned to tech. The digital monument to my EnvSci degree lives here. I used that education in water cycles and northwest ecosystems in writing WHERE THE RIVER GOES.

My favorite sport is triathlon. I’ve completed 5 half-iron races, 1 Ironman, 1 Super Tri, and a smattering of shorter races. Some of those adventures are journaled here. I channeled both my own experience, and watching my kids’ first triathlon into TIMI’S FIRST TRI.

I enjoy a variety of music, but mostly listen to various types of Metal. Now my kids are getting into it, which inspired PETAL’S METTLE.

I dabbled briefly in voiceover. Those sample recordings are stashed here and resulted in a short-lived podcast here, featuring very early drafts of some of my Picture Books.

Writing reconnects me with the kid inside who loved telling stories. He never stopped, I’m just finally writing them down.

Here’s a poem I wrote when I was 6:

Toast, French Toast
I love the taste
Toast, French Toast
It is not paste
Toast, French Toast
The toast is bread
Toast, French Toast
The bread is dead
